A number of local groups were able to carry on with their community outreach efforts thanks in large part to the more than $650,000 that Delta Community Credit Union donated in 2013.
The $4.5 billion cooperative in Atlanta said raising funds for Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, Delta Community's Philanthropic Fund, metro area chamber of commerce organizations, high schools and other nonprofits, Delta Community contributed financial donations, as well as support, through programs that focus on the specific needs of the communities it serves.
In 2013, Delta Community raised more than $650,000 through Atlanta fundraising initiatives, including supporting numerous metro Atlanta nonprofit organizations through the fund, said Jai Rogers, vice president of business and community development of Delta Community.
“In 2014, we look forward to that same level of engagement,” Rogers said.
To assist the physical and financial education of young people and families, Delta Community's Philanthropic Fund currently supports 15 nonprofit organizations and will hold a call for grant submissions in the summer of 2014, the credit union said.
Through this grant program, Delta Community said it will support organizations whose purpose is to help families manage their household finances and improve the physical and financial well-being of young people, including science, technology, engineering and math programs fiscal management, youth development and more.
