The $962 million Whatcom Educational Credit Union in Bellingham, Wash. announced that its members earned $1,280,725 in cash back rebates on their WECU Visa credit cards last year.
Every year at the beginning of January, the credit union gives WECU Visa cardholders 1% cash back on each of their purchases as a thank you for their membership.
WECU currently has more than 71,700 members, making it Whatcom County's "largest member-focused, nonprofit financial cooperative, serving all residents of Whatcom County."
WECU recently announced that it will select a replacement for retiring CEO Wayne Langei in August of 2014. Langei has served as CEO for 41 years.
All three candidates are internal and include Executive Vice President Robert Langei, the current CEO's son, as well as Chief Lending Officer Jennifer Kutcher and Chief Operating Officer Jeff Dykstra.
