Independent broker-dealer and registered investment advisory firm Commonwealth Financial Network has added UICCU Wealth Management to its network of independent financial advisers.

A division of the $2.1 billion University of Iowa Community Credit Union in North Liberty, Iowa,  UICCU Wealth Management focuses on fee-based investment management services, comprehensive retirement, college savings, wealth transfer,  life and long-term care insurance planning and brokerage services.

The credit union's wealth management division has also pioneered the development of Participant Choice for TIAA-CREF participants in university retirement plans, giving employees the opportunity to choose independent advice for their retirement account investment management, according to Commonwealth, which has headquarters in Waltham, Mass., and San Diego.

Formerly affiliated with LPL Financial, Mark Law, managing director and chief investment officer at UICCU Wealth Management, along with his team of 14 advisers, manages more than $500 million in total client assets.

“In Commonwealth, we found a company that mirrors our strong values and commitment to community,” Law said. “Integrating Commonwealth's unmatched and award-winning technology platform will immediately add value to our practice, increasing efficiency and allowing our team to provide an exceptional client experience for years to come.”

Commonwealth said it supports more than 1,450 independent advisers nationwide in serving their clients as registered representatives, investment adviser representatives, and registered investment advisers.
