The Members Group and its processing partner First Data Corp now offer what they called a streamlined path to issuing EMV cards for qualified credit unions.
To qualify, credit unions will need to use personalization processes and chip certification that match those used in the faster program.
“Offering this expedited process from First Data helps make the transition to EMV less burdensome for our clients,” said Brandon Kuehl, product manager at the Des Moines, Iowa-based TMG. “Building an easier path to EMV migration was a message TMG heard from our clients from the start. By partnering with the right organizations, our clients are now able to get EMV cards in market more quickly, which gives them a competitive edge with today's smart, tech-savvy consumer.”
First Data has completed the steps necessary to offer the expedited EMV implementation process to qualifying financial institutions. To offer the process, a processor must meet eligibility requirements outlined by the card networks, including the prior successful completion of a U.S. chip issuing project.
“Providing this streamlined capability is another demonstration of First Data's commitment to leading the industry in enabling EMV and putting our customers first,” said Barry McCarthy, president of First Data's Financial Services unit. “We are pleased to partner with TMG in making this process easier for their clients.”
