A 30-year credit union veteran is the new deputy director of the Office of Credit Unions at Wisconsin's Department of Financial Institutions.

Thomas E. Theune most recently had spent five years as president/CEO of the $31 million Electrical Federal Credit Union in Arvada, Colo. He also has served as CEO at the $18 million Jeffco Federal Credit Union in Golden, Colo., and has been active on boards of credit union chapters and an IT CUSO in Denver.

“We're pleased to have someone with Tom's deep credit union experience in the No. 2 position in the Office,” Kim Santos, director of the Office of Credit Unions, said in a release. “Tom brings a wealth of knowledge that will be very beneficial to our operation.”

Theune, a native of Sheboygan, Wis., attended the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee before moving to Colorado in 1983, said the agency that regulates the Badger State's 174 state-chartered credit unions.

“I am excited and honored to be back in my home state and to be offered this incredibly rewarding position that will call upon all my experience gained over the last 30 years in credit unions,” Theune said in the DFI release.
