The $1.2 billion Elevations Credit Union in Boulder, Colo., received the 2013 Rocky Mountain Performance Excellence Peak Award, presented to an organization that achieves the highest level of execution in business process management. The honor marks a key milestone in an organization's pursuit of the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award.

Elevations became only the fourth organization to receive the RMPEx Peak award in its 12-year history, according to the cooperative.

Based in Denver, RMPEx is a non-profit group that helps organizations improve performance and achieve results. It is one of more than 30 similar state programs throughout the U.S.

The RMPEx Peak award is presented to an organization that demonstrates role-model results, plus systematic and mature approaches, effective deployment, process learning, and process integration in their operations, Elevations CU said in a prepared statement.

What's more, the RMPEx Peak award criteria is equivalent to the criteria of the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award.

Elevations CU launched its quest to become a Malcolm Baldrige National Quality award winner in 2009.

The Malcom Baldrige National Quality Award is presented by the President of the United States to businesses that have been judged to be outstanding in seven areas: leadership; strategic planning; customer and market focus; measurement, analysis, and knowledge management; workforce focus; process management; and results.

"I am deeply humbled by our people, their dedication, and their efforts to continuously improve, making Elevations the best it can be for our membership and the communities that we serve," Gerry Agnes, president/CEO of Elevations CU, said in a prepared statement.  "This truly is a major accomplishment, one that will give us the tools to make Elevations a world class provider,"

Founded in 1952 on the campus of the University of Colorado, Elevations CU serves more than 102,000 members.
