Credit unions seeking matching grants in the CO-OP Miracle Match program for 2014 can apply now, the big CUSO announced on Monday.
CO-OP Financial Services said more than 150 credit unions participating in the program in 2013 raised $3 million for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals, $1 million of that in matching funds from the Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.-based payments and shared branching operation.
The Miracle Match program began in 2008 and this is the third consecutive year that combined CO-OP and participating credit union contributions have exceeded $3 million, CO-OP President/CEO Stan Hollen said in the company's announcement
CO-OP said 98 hospitals in 34 states were helped in 2013, including through more than 100 fundraisers held as first-time events by the sponsoring credit union. About 70 of the 151 participating credit unions also were new to the match program last year, CO-OP said.
An additional $164,500 was donated to CMN hospitals in 2013 through event sponsorships and conference activities, CO-OP said, adding that it is also enabling an add-on transaction that allows credit union members to contribute to the CMN at ATMs.
