Xtend Inc. now has its first Alaskan owner, the Michigan-based back-office operations CUSO said this week.

The $67 million, 7,000-member Tongass Federal Credit Union of Ketchikan had already committed to use Xtend for call center and back-office support during its upcoming conversion to the CU*BASE core processing system from CU*Answers, Xtend's CUSO affiliate at its Grand Rapids headquarters.

That conversion, set for March 1, is through another member of the cuanswers network, CU*NorthWest Inc. in Spokane, Wash., Xtend said in a statement. Tongass FCU also has become an owner of that CUSO.

And now the Alaskan credit union is one of the 73 owners of Xtend, which said it now provides managerial, operational, marketing, technical planning and consulting services to more than 170 credit unions.

“We are excited to welcome our first owner from the great state of Alaska,” said Xtend President Scott Collins, “and our team is excited to help our partners at CU*Northwest bring their first Alaska-based client into the network as well.”
