Verity Credit Union recently announced that a mother of four and blogger from Marysville, Wash., has been selected to serve as a spokesperson in 2014 for the $414 million Seattle co-op.

Mollye Taylor has been named the new Verity Mom, a program launched in 2009 to connect with local families, the credit union said.

"Mollye has the right balance of online presence, authentic content, writing ability and video skills for the job," said Melina Young, director of marketing for the 27,000-member Verity. "She's personable and quirky, and we can't wait to see what she does with the Verity Mom role."

Along with the job title, Taylor will receive a $20,000 one-year contract for the part-time gig, a MacBook Pro computer, an iPod Touch and a video camera, Young said.

Taylor was selected from more than 30 women who applied through an online job search at veritymom.com, the credit union said.

Contestants competed against each other with videos and blog posts. After an in-person meeting with other applicants, and two rounds on online voting, Taylor came out on top, the credit union said.

Taylor, who is the third Verity Mom, took over from Danielle Gahl in November.

"We also want to thank Danielle Gahl for doing a fantastic job as the Verity Mom for the past two years," Young added. "Danielle is amazingly talented and the new Verity Mom has big shoes to fill, in her own way."
