The $67 million Tongass Federal Credit Union in Ketchikan, Alaska, has become the 17th credit union owner of CU*NorthWest, a provider of the CU*BASE core processing platform from CU*Answers in Grand Rapids, Mich.

Tongass FCU plans to convert to the CU*BASE platform from the Symitar Cruise system next March and is the first Alaska client of CU*NorthWest, a member of the cuasterisk network that now claims 25 clients and is based in Liberty Lake, Wash.

The 7,000-member Tongass FCU has four branches on three islands in southern Alaska.

“We look forward to collaborating with our sister credit unions and using this strength to continue bringing new services, products and technology to our own member owners,” said its president/CEO, Susan Fisher.
