NCUA Board Chairman Debbie Matz announced on Tuesday that Joseph Ostrowidzki has been named associate regional director for operations in the agency's Region III office.

Ostrowidzki starts the new position on Dec. 29 after serving as a Region III supervisory examiner. He succeeds Myra Toeppe, who was selected as regional director in September.

NCUA's Region III, based in Atlanta, currently oversees federally insured credit unions in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, Ohio, Tennessee, South Carolina, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

The NCUA said Ohio will move to Region II at the beginning of next year and Arkansas and Louisiana will become part of Region III.

Ostrowidzki started his career with the NCUA as an examiner in 1987, holding positions including supervision analyst, insurance analyst and training specialist. He was a director of insurance in Region III before becoming a supervisory examiner in 2010.

Ostrowidzki earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Texas. He is also a graduate of the Federal Executive Institute's Leadership for a Democratic Society program.
