The $54 billion, 4.3-million member Navy Federal Credit Union has opened a new branch in Copperas Cove, Texas, bringing its branch total to 235, the Vienna, Va.-based cooperative said.

The branch houses an image-enabled ATM and a coin machine, and its staff also includes a mortgage lending officer.

“We have 20,000 members in the (Copperas Cove) area, and this new location will mean greater access and convenience for many of them who live nearby,” said Glenn Ellyson, the branch manager.

During a grand opening event for the branch on Oct. 1, Navy Federal announced it made a $1,000 donation to a regional division of Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors that provides immediate and long-term assistance for anyone who has suffered the loss of loved ones who has served in the military. TAPS has assisted more than 40,000 surviving family members, casualty officers and caregivers, according to the organization's website.

On Oct. 28, Navy Federal said, it is scheduled to open a new branch at the Red Mill Commons Shopping Center in Virginia Beach, Va.
