The $233 million Scient Federal Credit Union in Groton, Conn., has named two new vice presidents.

The 16,600-member institution named Scott Varga to the newly created position of vice president of information technology.

He had been an independent consult for the past two years and prior to that was chief infrastructure officer at ARGO Group in San Antonio, his new employer said.

David Purcell, meanwhile, has been named vice president of lending and chief lending officer.

He has more than 25 years of financial industry leadership experience and had most recently been vice president and customer experience manager at Patriot National Bank in Stamford, Conn., Scient FCU said.
