The $46 million Knoxville Post Office Credit Union will become TNConnect Credit Union on Oct. 1.
The 6,700-member credit union has offices in Knoxville and Seymour, Tenn., and was founded in 1924, making it the state's oldest credit union.
KPOCU was organized by postal employees meeting in the basement of the downtown Knoxville Post Office, the credit union said, and is now open to anyone who lives, works, worships or goes to school in Knox, Blount or Sevier counties.
“From the first American postal service set up in 1692 to today, the goal of the postal service has always been to help people get connected,” said Linda Childs, president/CEO. “Under our new name, TNConnect, we will remain the same loyal, committed and solid credit union that our members have come to love.
“The TNConnect identity gives us the opportunity to expand our services to current members and reach out to new ones.”
