The $1.2 billion NuVision Federal Credit Union celebrated reaching a milestone of 12,000 electronic deposits by members in August, surpassing its 2013 goal four months early, by presenting a dozen iPad minis to local children’s hospitals. The Huntington Beach, Calif., has promised the donations – one device for every 1,000 remote deposits either by mobile device or PC – as a promotion for the new service at the beginning of 2013. Shown here, NuVision FCU’s Attila Morgan (center) presents iPad minis to Scott Ferguson, left, and Michael Sandler of Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.

The $1 billion Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union in Lowell Mass. announced that Anne-Marie Bisson, vice president-financial education, and Mariann O’Brien, assistant vice president-branch operations, were named 2013 Credit Union Heroes by Banker & Tradesman, a weekly publication that provides Massachusetts financial services and real estate news. The Credit Union Heroes award celebrates individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the industry and the community. Bisson was cited for financial education and her work in founding and operating Catie’s Closet, a nonprofit initiative that provides clothing and other necessities for children and teens struggling with homelessness and poverty. O’Brien’s nomination noted her her work as a director of Budget Buddies, a nonprofit organization that improves the financial literacy of low-income women, and her work on Lowell’s Acre Committee To Improve Our Neighborhood. The two women received their awards during a September 12th ceremony at the Omni Parker House in Boston.
