(Above is the first of the six modules in this series on supervisory committee duties.)
Small and low-income credit unions are now being offered training videos for their supervisory committee members.
The NCUA said the videos from its Office of Small Credit Union Initiatives includes six modules, all 10 minutes or less, addressing topics that include monitoring management activities, annual auditions, member account verification and handling member complaints.
“Our intent is that by providing free, accessible training it will be easier to recruit volunteers and increase the effectiveness of committee members,” NCUA Chair Debbie Matz said in an agency announcement.
“We chose the supervisory committee as our target audience because of the critical role these committee members play in ensuring the safety and soundness of the credit union,” Matz said.
The video series is available online. The agency said more operational and regulatory training modules will follow next year.
