The $1.5 billion United Federal Credit Union broke ground last week to build a new $2 million, 6,500-square-foot branch in Reno, Nev.
Once the construction of the building in completed in the spring 2014, it will become the sixth Nevada branch of the St. Joseph, Mich.-based cooperative.
“With the addition of this full-service location, we'll be able to improve our service to existing members, and provide a better service option to potential members and businesses in Northwest Reno,” said Danny DeLaRosa, UFCU vice president of member relations for Nevada.
The full-service branch will feature multiple drive-through lanes, an ATM and a large member-service area. The branch will also house 10 offices for UFCU employees, including a mortgage loan officer and business service adviser.
In recent years, northern Nevada has seen a resurgence in both retail and employment opportunities, according to UFCU.
“In particular, the housing market made substantial gains and we've seen growth in the number of small businesses in the area,” said d DeLaRosa.
In addition to currently operating five branches in Nevada, UFCU also operates 17 branches in Arkansas, Michigan, North Carolina and Ohio.
