Several more lawmakers well known to the credit industry have been added this week to the speaker lineup for the Congressional Caucus set by NAFCU for Sunday through Wednesday at the Mayflower Renaissance Hotel in Washington, D.C.

They are Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.), House Financial Services Chair Jeb Hensarling (R-Texas), Rep. Gary Miller (R-Calif.), Rep. Dennis Ross (R-Fla.), Rep. Michael Grimm (R-N.Y.) and Carolyn Maloney (D-N.Y.)

Miller, House Financial Services Committee vice chairman, introduced H.R. 2572, the “Regulatory Relief for Credit Unions Act of 2013,” while Paul is GOP lead cosponsor of S. 968, the “Small Business Lending Enhancement Act of 2013.”

Ross is a member of the House Financial Services Subcommittees on Capital Markets and Government Sponsored Enterprises, and Housing and Insurance. He gained industry notice by excluding credit unions from a tax reform bill that had originally included ending the tax exemption.

Hensarling is a chief sponsor of H.R. 2767, the “Protecting American Taxpayers and Homeowners (PATH) Act” that would wind down Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and ease the credit union impact of Consumer Financial Protection Bureau mortgage rules to take effect in January, NAFCU said.

Maloney is the chief sponsor of H.R. 1646, which would amend the Federal Credit Union Act to provide a member business loan cap exemption for loans made to aid disaster recovery. Grimm is the bill's chief Republican cosponsor, NAFCU said.
