The $245 million, 30,000-member Partner Colorado Credit Union, headquartered in Arvada, Colorado, has discovered putting staff in a local Hispanic food market has been a fun and successful way of introducing the credit union to Hispanic residents.

Recently the credit union put bilingual staff in theMi Pueblo Market in Commerce City, a popular place for local Hispanic families.

During the event, PartnerColorado employees used the market's intercom system to announce prizes and to award $100 or $50 each to lucky shoppers. The credit union gave away a total of $1,000.

In addition to the give-aways, the credit union's staff members educated store customers on the difference between a bank and a credit union. Plus, the employees encouraged the potential member to look to a credit union for their family's financial needs in the future.

“Partner Colorado has worked hard to demonstrate the credit union difference with the Hispanic Community in the past couple years and we are hoping to build further trust with this market doing community give-backs like this,” said Sundie Seefried, president and CEO.

Partner Colorado is planning two more Friday evening events at the marketplace, but exact dates have not been announced. During those events, Partner Colorado will also be distributing flyers for a free turkey coupon to customers at the store. The first 100 customers that take the flyer to the local Partner Colorado Stapleton Branch Office will be able to obtain a coupon for a free turkey from Mi Pueblo Market.

“We are working in the community and we want them to know where they can find us for service,” said Stacey Morgan, Stapleton Branch Manager.

To further support the hispanic community, Partner Colorado recently launched a bilingual website at PartnerColoradoCU.org.

“Our mission is to improve people's lives by changing the way they think about their financial aspirations and manage their financial resources for good,” Seefried added. “We are particularly excited about our new tagline, Moving You Ahead, as it succinctly captures Partner Colorado's brand promise – it's what we do and who we are.”
