The $33 million Monterey County Employee Credit Union, which opened in 1950 in Silanis, Calif., has changed its name to allU.S. Credit Union and expanded its field of membership to include all people who live, work, go to school and worship in Monterey County.
Patrick Redo, CEO of the newly-named allU.S. Credit Union, said the new name reflects upon the 3,800-member credit union's growth in recent years and ability to serve more members.
"We have a long history as a financially sound institution," Redo said. "We care about our Members' well-being and that tradition will continue as allU.S. As our membership has grown, so have our products and services."

The volunteer board of directors and the executive team remain unchanged, the credit union said.
"People have asked 'Why allU.S.?" said Redo. "A major part of the brand development process involved getting to the core of who we are and what sets us apart. What we discovered is as Monterey county Employee Credit Union, our approach has always been member-driven. That's where allU.S. was born. It's about providing the right products and services, tailored to each member's needs and being positively different."
In the spirit of the new name, allU.S. will become more inclusive and offer a wider spectrum of financial services, technological innovations and products.
Qualified members are eligible for free checking, free mobilebillpay, online banking, and lower rates on credit cards, home equity loans, mortgages, auto loans and personal loans. At the same time they experience higher rates for savings, checking, money market accounts and CDs.
To celebrate its new name, allU.S. plans to launch an upcoming campaign, which is being touted as "Pay It Forward Throughout the Monterey Peninsula," the credit union said.
