Fiserv Inc. said this week that more than 100 credit unions and banks have signed up for its latest Apple-based tablet banking solution.

One of those, the $377 million UMassFive College Federal Credit Union in Hadley, Mass., also has renewed its contract to use the Wisconsin-based technology provider's Portico account processing platform, the company and credit union said.

The 29,900-member UMassFive has been a Fiserv customer since 1983 and, in addition to core processing in an ASP environment, online banking, debit processing and bill pay, will now use the company's Mobiliti smartphone and tablet solutions, the company said.

UMassFive CEO Kathy Hutchinson said, “By expanding our digital offerings with mobile and tablet solutions, our members will have additional means to manage their financial services, enabling us to provide an experience tailored to their needs.”

Meanwhile, the company said, more than 100 credit unions and banks have committed to using its newly launched Mobiliti: Tablet app for iPads, also delivered as an ASP turnkey solution.

The new solution joins the company's existing tablet offerings and features bill pay, person-to-person payments and remote deposit checking capabilities, Fiserv said. The company said it plans to offer an Android app next year.

Fiserv said it already has more than 1,200 financial institutions using its various Mobiliti mobile banking and payments solutions overall.

Callahan & Associates data show that 353 credit unions currently use the Portico platform.
