The 46,000 members of the $555 million Postal Credit Union in Woodbury, Minn., are now being offered online account opening, the credit union said.

PCU is using the uOpen solution from Harland Financial Solutions and 20 accounts have been opened since the recent soft launch, the credit union said this week.

The online account opening tool includes new member, savings, checking, money market and reserve savings accounts and the application process takes about 10 minutes to complete, PCU said in its announcement.

New accounts can be funded with a credit or debit card or transfer from another financial institution, the credit union said, and plans include adding auto and personal loans and credit cards.

“(Now) new and existing members don't have to wait until we open our doors to conduct their important business,” PCU President/CEO Brian Sherrick said in the statement.

PCU was founded in 1926 and now serves Anoka, Chisago, Dakota, Hennepin, Ramsey and Washington counties, with offices in Eagan, Hugo, North St. Paul, West St. Paul and Woodbury, Minn.
