The $1.9 billion Chartway Federal Credit Union in Virginia Beach, Va. announced Aug. 13 it will consolidate two previously merged Utah-based credit unions effective Oct. 1. The two credit unions–HeritageWest and Utah Central–are both located in the greater Salt Lake City area and were merged into Chartway in 2010 and 2011, respectively.
President/CEO Ron Burniske said member feedback received earlier this year revealed the need for the new branding strategy.
"(Members) told us they weren't aware that HeritageWest and Utah Central belonged to a family of credit unions, giving them access to any of their branch locations, ATMs and online, mobile, and telephone banking services," he said. "So, it only made sense to create the clarity members were seeking by uniting the two brands under one name: HeritageWest."
