There is little more than a week to go before the Feds Feed Families food drive comes to an end, but the NCUA said it has already collected more than 8,000 pounds of food.
To date, the more than four tons of food that's been collected by the NCUA for the annual food drive, has beat their 2012 donation of 2,079 pounds of food by a huge margin. The NCUA's contribution will go to the Capital Area Food Bank.
According to the USDA, since the campaign began in 2009, federal workers have donated and collected 15.2 million pounds of food and other non-perishable items to support families across America. More than 85% of federal workers live and work outside the Washington D.C., area, so communities in every state are being assisted.
