The African-American Credit Union Coalition has elected Lynette Smith, president/CEO of the $89 million Washington Gas Light Federal Credit Union in Springfield, Va., as its new board chairperson.
Smith succeeds Sheilah Montgomery, president/CEO of the $80 million Credit Union of Atlanta, who will continue to serve on the AACUC's board for a three-year term.
Smith is familiar with the organization, having previously served as vice chair. Mark Brantley, board chairman at the $1.9 billion Municipal Credit Union in New York, is the AACUC's new vice chair.

Timothy Anderson, president/CEO of the $36 million Government Printing Office Federal Credit Union in Washington, will serve as treasurer. He succeeds Helen Godfrey-Smith, president/CEO of the $93 million Shreveport Federal Credit Union in Shreveport, La., who will continue to serve on the board for a three-year term.
Tonita Webb, senior vice president/chief administrative officer of the $589 million Seattle Metropolitan Credit Union, is the newly elected secretary. She succeeds Brantley, who is now the AACUC board's vice chair.
The newest board member is Ed Presnell, vice president of administrative services of the $669 million SRP Federal Credit Union in North Augusta, S.C., who was elected to serve for a three-year term.
Others serving on the AACUC board are Bert Hash, president/CEO of $1.2 billion MECU of Baltimore and Barbara Stephens, president/CEO of the $43 million Houston Metropolitan Federal Credit Union.
The elections took place at the AACUC's annual conference, which was held in Detroit July 31-Aug. 4.
