The African-American Credit Union Coalition has elected Lynette Smith, president/CEO of the $89 million Washington Gas Light Federal Credit Union in Springfield, Va., as its new board chairperson.
Smith succeeds Sheilah Montgomery, president/CEO of the $80 million Credit Union of Atlanta, who will continue to serve on the AACUC's board for a three-year term.
Smith is familiar with the organization, having previously served as vice chair. Mark Brantley, board chairman at the $1.9 billion Municipal Credit Union in New York, is the AACUC's new vice chair.
