Barbara Corcoran, one of the investors on the Shark Tank business idea competition television program, will be the first guest at First Commerce Credit Union's Power Forward Speaker Series.
The $368 million credit union in Tallahassee, Fla., has partnered with the Florida State College of Business to launch the new series, which will feature renowned speakers in observance of Entrepreneurship Month in November.
Corcoran used a $1,000 loan to launch The Corcoran Group and built it into a $5 billion real estate firm that she sold in 2011 for $66 million, according to her website.
She is also one of the investors on the Shark Tank, a reality television show on ABC that features business pitches from aspiring entrepreneurs to a panel of potential investors. Corcoran has invested in more than a dozen businesses to date, according to the TV program.
In addition to being an author and a columnist for several publications, Corcoran is also the real estate contributor on NBC's The Today Show.
Corcoran will speak on Nov. 6 at the University Center Club in Tallahassee.
