Altura Credit Union, Riverside, Calif., announced that its scholarship foundation is awarding $38,000 in college scholarships this year to seniors graduating from Riverside County high schools. Of the 38 scholarships for $1,000, 35 are directly from the Altura Scholarship Foundation. Five of those specifically recognize students in AVID programs. And 10 additional scholarships will be awarded in August to local graduating seniors planning to attend the University of California, Riverside. In addition, three memorial scholarships were awarded. Scholarship recipients are selected based on their academic record, and an essay detailing their college goals, financial need and extracurricular activities. More than 200 students applied for Altura Scholarships this year.

CAP COM Federal Credit Union, Albany, N.Y awarded $57,500 in scholarships to 23 Capital Region students and credit union members. The CAP COM Cares Foundation named 20 winners of the annual Weidner Davis Scholarships and three winners of the Harold Horning Scholarships. The foundation, founded in 2003, is the charitable arm of the credit union and awards more than $60,000 in scholarships each year. Winners of the 2013 Weidner Davis Scholarships are graduating high school seniors or college students and each earned a $2,500 award to help pay for college. Davis is a former longtime credit union board member. Winners of the 2013 Harold Horning Scholarships are graduating high school seniors or college students and each earned a $2,500 award to help pay for a college. Horning is a current member of the credit Union board of directors and past president/CEO of CAP COM.

Clearview Federal Credit Union, Moon Township, Pa., announced the winners of the 2013 Ralph B. Canterbury Scholarships. The scholarship winners were recently recognized by Ralph B. Canterbury at Clearview's annual meeting. Each of the following winners was awarded a $1,000 scholarship to use toward their college education: Anthony Aloisi of Central Valley High School; Kara DiNofrio of Moon Area High School; Nickolas Halbedl of West Allegheny High School; Tierra Jackson of Aliquippa Junior/Senior High School; Dominic Montemurro of Highlands High School; Melissa Pintar of Youngstown State University; Daniel Pratt of Franklin Area High School; Steven Smith of Penn State University, Beaver Campus; Ian Stewart of Montour High School; and Mia Vinciguerra of New York University. The scholarships are in honor of Ralph B. Canterbury's outstanding service and loyalty to the credit union during his 34-year tenure. Ralph B. Canterbury was onsite for the event to personally give the certificates to the scholarship winners. Applicants were judged based on a number of criteria including: academic performance, community involvement, a statement of personal goals and an essay on "Why I choose to belong to Clearview."
