In the push to accommodate technological innovation, the $3.5 billion Mountain America Credit Union recently introduced a new person-to-person payment system.

Mountain America's Send Money — powered by PayPal – is a fast, easy way to send money to anyone, anytime and anywhere, the 420,000-member Utah credit union said.

Send Money is available through Mountain America's online banking and mobile app. All members need to complete a transaction is a mobile number or an email address of the recipient.

“Financial companies are beginning to realize that simple money transfer capabilities will not fully satisfy their customers,” said Rob Cummings, senior vice president of online and mobile banking for Mountain America. “Consumers are asking for the ability to pay their friends electronically, including splitting checks at restaurants, paying babysitter wages via digital money, or even sharing in monthly rent. And customers want this service to be free and instantaneous. Send Money does all this, and more.”
