After cutting the power bill by $7,000 in the past year, among other things, the NCUA has received ENERGY STAR certification at its headquarters in Alexandria, Va.
The General Services Administration requires agencies leasing space outside a GSA-owned property to attain an ENERGY STAR rating of at latest 75. The NCUA met all four necessary standards for certification in energy performance, thermal comfort, indoor air quality and illumination levels, the agency said, and received an 86 out of 100.
"Our greeNCUA initiative has promoted greater energy efficiency, waste reduction and other efforts to reduce NCUA's environmental footprint," said NCUA Chairman Debbie Matz said.
