Last week the $780 million 3Rivers Federal Credit Union in Fort Wayne, Ind., became the nation's first credit union to launch Picture Pay, a mobile photo bill payment solution developed by Malauzai Software and Allied Payment Network, the companies and credit union said.
The stand-alone Picture Pay solution enables credit union members to pay bills by taking a picture with a mobile device, and entering the payment amount and due date, the press release said.
Currently, 17% of checking account holders at the 67,000-member 3Rivers utilize its mobile platforms, according to a statement from the companies and 3Rivers FCU.
“Mobile adoption continues to dramatically increase among our members, and the addition of mobile bill pay fills a void in our mobile platform that members have been requesting for quite some time,” said Melissa Shaw, marketing communication manager for 3Rivers. “The addition of Picture Pay enables us to fulfill our members' need for a simple mobile bill pay solution, as well as increase mobile adoption and member satisfaction.”
