The $1.5 billion United Federal Credit Union of St. Joseph, Mich. has broken ground for a $1.5 million, 6,400-square foot branch in Fletcher, N.C that is expected to open in early 2014.

The full-service branch will include multiple drive-thru lanes, an ATM, safe deposit boxes, an expanded member service area, and a community meeting room. It will employ nine initially, including staff from another location.

“The new branch will also offer the services of a mortgage loan officer and business service advisor in one convenient location,” said UFCU Vice President of Member Relations/North Carolina Lee Beason.

More than 125 individuals attended the groundbreaking ceremony last week, including Fletcher Mayor Pro-Tem Eddie Henderson and Bob Williford, executive director of the local Chamber of Commerce.

“We're excited to see our new Fletcher branch take shape. It will offer an enhanced banking experience for members and promote regional growth,” said UFCU Branch Manager Steve Clark.

UFCU also operates 23 branches in Arkansas, Indiana, Michigan, North Carolina, Nevada, and Ohio.
