The $145 million Members First Credit Union in Manchester, N.H., has named Bruce Leighton as its new president/CEO.

Leighton had been serving as CEO/CFO since earlier this year, when former Members First CEO Bernard McLaughlin became president/CEO of the $724 million Point Breeze Credit Union in Hunt Valley, Md.

Leighton joined Members First in 2012 and has more than 30 years of bank and credit union experience, Members First said in Monday’s announcement, including senior positions at People’s United Bank in Portsmouth, N.H., and St. Mary’s Bank in Manchester.

“Bruce has proven himself as a highly skilled credit union executive, an effective leader, and someone who understands the needs of our members and the communities we serve. With his experience and vision, he will lead us to a new and exciting chapter in the credit union’s history,” Dave Wihby, chairman of the Board of Directors of Members First, said in the announcement from the 13,000-member credit union.
