The Louisiana Credit Union League said its eight-week advertising campaign is under way to increase consumer awareness throughout the state about the benefits of credit unions.
Television, radio, billboard and online ads began promoting credit unions throughout the state on June 10.
The ads, developed by LCUL, direct consumers to CUNA's asmarterchoice.org site to learn more about the credit union movement and to search for a credit union near them.
The LCUL said last year's statewide public awareness campaign produced "outstanding results."
"Louisiana rose from No. 32 to as high as No. 4 in terms of in terms of total searches on the Smarter Choice website," according to a league statement. "The campaign concluded with more than 2,200 searches for Louisiana credit unions, an increase of more than 600% over pre-campaign levels.
"Our goal in 2013 is to build on this success in order to increase awareness of Louisiana credit unions and educate consumers on the benefits of membership," LCUL said.
The LCUL said 25 credit unions supported this year's public awareness campaign.
