About 60 credit union professionals and volunteers from 23 credit unions gathered in Wichita for the Kansas Credit Union Association's Innovation and Implementation Lab kick-off conference held earlier this month.

KCUA's Innovation and Implementation Lab was created to encourage the development of innovative ideas that could benefit Kansas credit unions and their members.

The all-day conference featured experts from inside and outside the credit union industry such as Matt Davis of the Filene Research Institute, economist Max Wolff and entrepreneur Wil Schroter.

The Innovation and Implementation Lab initiative will include two, 10-member teams, the think tank team and the dream to destination team, according to KCUA. The think tank team is responsible for developing ideas, and the dream to destination team is responsible for implementing those ideas.

The team members will be selected in July and will meet throughout the year.
