The Senate Banking Committee on Thursday announced it will conduct a confirmation hearing for NCUA Board nominee Rick Metsger on Thursday, June 27.

The 10 a.m. hearing in the Dirksen Senate Office Building will include four other nominees, including U.S. Rep. Mel Watt (D-N.C.), who was nominated to serve as director of the Federal Housing Finance Administration.

Other nominees on the panel will be Jason Furman of New York, to be a member and chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers, and Kara M. Stein and Michael Piwowar, both nominated to be members of the Securities & Exchange Commission.

Pending approval by the Senate panel, Metsger, a Democrat and former Oregon state senator, would face a vote from the full Senate before he could take a position on the NCUA Board, filling the seat vacated last year by Gigi Hyland.

NAFCU had announced Tuesday Metsger's nomination hearing would be scheduled for next week, but at the time a committee spokesman would not confirm the report.
