The SECU Foundation has helped celebrate the opening of the fourth teacher housing complex it has supported across North Carolina.

The Echo Ridge Teacher Housing Complex in Raeford, N.C., was built with the help of an interest-free loan from SECU members through the SECU Foundation, the charitable arm of the $26.5 billion State Employees Credit Union in Raleigh, N.C.

The 24-unit complex will provide convenient, affordable housing for new and current teachers and was built through a partnership with the Partners for Hoke County Public Schools Education Foundation, SECU said.

“We are proud to unite with the Partners for Hoke County Public Schools Education Foundation in this initiative – one that will make a positive impact on Hoke County's growing school system and the community for years to come,” Shirley Bell, SECU Foundation board member said at the ribbon cutting ceremony last week.

Don Steed, president of Partners for Hoke County Public Schools Education Foundation, said, “Echo Ridge will help bring stability to our teaching positions and will also provide an economic boost to our local communities.”
