The $2.2 billion Redwood Credit Union in Santa Rosa, Calif., sent three teams to the recent Human Race events in Sonoma, Marin and Mendocino counties. A total of 137 volunteers from RCU, including employees, family and friends, walked or ran in the races, raising more than $13,000 for a variety of local non-profits.
At the Sonoma County Race, the RCU team carried flower shaped balloon bouquets, celebrating this year's "Bloom, Grow, Go" theme. RCU mascot Reddy the Redwood accompanied the walking teams at all three races. And RCU employee James Withers from the San Rafael branch, placed first among runners in the Marin Human Race with a record-breaking time of 15 minutes and 21 seconds in that 10k run.
"Redwood Credit Union is always excited to participate in the Human Race each year, as it brings such strong support from all over the community," said Robin McKenzie, RCU senior vice president. "Although RCU supports and participates in numerous fundraising events throughout the year, the Human Race is unique in that it allows our staff to raise funds for whichever non-profit they are truly passionate about."
