The $1.5 billion Educators Credit Union in Racine, Wis., has promoted Michelle Gabor to chief financial officer.

Gabor joined Educators CU in 2004 and since then has served as human resources

generalist, vice president of audit, vice president of electronic services and vice president of finance, the credit union said.

She succeeds Robert Stepien, who retired last month after serving as CFO since 2005.

“I am proud of the help Educators Credit Union provides to our 116,000 members and honored to serve our members, employees and communities,” Gabor said.

She has a bachelor's degree and MBA from the University of Wisconsin-Parkside and recently earned her CPA designation, her employer said. She also is a graduate of Leadership Racine and a member of the River Bend Nature Center board of directors.

“Michelle's life is about leading by example,” said Eugene Szymczak, president of Educators CU.
