Members of DuTrac Community Credit Union can now go mobile on their quest to find that perfect vehicle.
The $565 million credit union in Dubuque, Iowa, said it has introduced the AskAuto app, which is designed to make shopping for a car and applying for a loan easier.
Created by CUNA Mutual Group, AskAuto made its debut at CUNA's Governmental Affairs Conference in February.
Shoppers can scan vehicle identification numbers to get average retail costs and EPA mileage estimates, according to DuTrac. They can also make notes and rate all the vehicles they like. The AskAuto app saves the information for comparison later.
Meanwhile, DuTrac said it can send messages about different loan options and dealer partnerships that might interest the AskAuto app user during the vehicle shopping process.
Once the shopper has decided on their car, they can apply for their loan anytime or anywhere using their smartphone or tablet, according to the credit union.
In most states, shoppers can scan their driver's license to prefill portions of the loan application, DuTrac said. The AskAuto app also prefills vehicle information.
The credit union said the app is free and available for download.
