The Illinois Credit Union Foundation has awarded $51,885 to support small credit union development, community service and marketing and business development.

Small credit union development grants that totaled $32,635 were awarded to 12 credit unions and one chapter: the Chicago Metro Chapter of Credit Unions,  the $26 million Bell West Community CU in Oak Lawn; the $15 million Chicago Fireman's Association CU; the $8.5 million Chicago Fire Officers Association CU;  the $1.8 million CTA C&M FCU in Chicago; the $1 million CTAFC FCU in Chicago; the $12 million CTASS&U FCU in Chicago; the $15 million NIU Employees FCU in DeKalb;  the $9 million Ottawa Hiway CU in Ottawa; the $4 million Parish Members CU in Metamora; the $4 million Peoria City Employees CU;  the $3 million Romeoville Community CU; and the $3 million Urbana Municipal Employees CU.

The ICUF also awarded seven community service grants totaling $3,750. This program is designed to encourage and reward chapter or credit union participation in local community projects.  Recipients were the Bloomington Chapter of Credit Unions, the $2 million Alton Bell Community CU in Alton;  the $34 million Altonized Community FCU in Alton; the $32 million Blackhawk Area CU in Savanna; the $33 million Heights Auto Workers CU in Chicago Heights;  the $42 million Members First Community CU in Quincy; the $3.9 million Oak Lawn Municipal Employees CU in Oak Lawn; and the $189 million Streator Onized CU in Streator.

Four credit unions received marketing and business development grants that totaled $15,500: the $11 million Danville Bell CU in Danville; the $1.8 million Fairmont Village CU in Fairmont City; the $3.4 million South Side Community FCU in Chicago; and the $4 million United Methodist Ministries CU in Bloomington.  These grants were established in 2006 to help credit unions with assets of up to $30 million to start or expand outreach efforts.
