A donation of 1,000 pounds of much-needed supplies for residents of West, Texas – the community devastated by an April 17 fertilizer plant blast that killed 14 people – has been gathered by staff of the $2 billion, 171,300-member Texas Dow Employees Credit Union.
The donation included a whole pallet of water, 50 boxes of latex gloves, 25 cases of hand wipes, 25 cases of hand sanitizer, numerous bags of diapers, hand-knitted quilts, children's clothes and cases of rubbing alcohol.
TDECU said Brazosport Movers in Angleton volunteered to help deliver the donated supplies to MSR Houston, a collection point for community donations headed to West. The small community is about 250 miles north of TDECU's home in Lake Jackson.
