The $162 million, 16,300-member St. Helens Community Credit Union in Oregon is bragging on three of its student tellers.

The high school kids – Melanie Naillon, Jake Stafford and Parker Snook – won top honors among students from 50 schools at the Future Business Leaders of America state competition held recently in Portland and now get to participate in the national conference in June in California.

SHCU operates branches at St. Helens and Scappoose high schools. The three winning students work there and at the credit union's other branches.

“Our high school tellers are bright, enthusiastic, and we are especially proud of the way these three students are representing our credit union and community,” said Brooke Van Vleet, president/CEO of the 16,300-member SHCU.

Melanie, who attends St. Helens High School, finished first place at state for hospitality management. Jake and Parker attend Scappoose High School and finished first place for banking and financial systems.

SHCU said it is helping the three student tellers raise funds to pay for the trip to the national conference.
