Staff and members of the $376 million Hawaii Community Federal Credit Union in Kailua Kona got together to donate 1,012 pounds of food and $1,422 in cash donations to the annual Food Basket Feed-a-Thon. Food Basket spokesperson Tommy “Kahikina” Chong said the effort will result in 5,420 pounds of food to help feed the hungry on the Big Island.
The 40,900-member Hawaii Community FCU also also sponsored the Kona Police Department's Masters Crew in the recent 25th Annual Law Enforcement Canoe Regatta held at the Kailua Pier. The event drew paddlers from law enforcement agencies across the state and raised $6,500 for the West Hawaii Special Olympics.
