Add Harry Carter, president/CEO of the 38,800-member Topline Federal Credit Union to the growing list of longtime credit union leaders opting to retire at the end of 2013.

Carter has led the Maple Grove, Minn.-based credit union since 1999 and helped it grow to more than $330 million in assets.

Active in the credit union industry for some 22 years he has served as chair of the Minnesota Credit Union Network Board of Directors, and in his local community, as chair of the North Hennepin Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and other boards and organizations.

Executive Vice President/COO Tom Smith, who has more than 21 years in the financial services industry, has been tapped to succeed Carter in 2014. Smith joined the credit union in 2008.
