Keith Kauffield has been named president/CEO of the University of Nebraska Federal Credit Union in Lincoln, Neb.

Kauffield has 16 years of senior management experience in operations and administration, most recently as vice president/chief administrative officer at the $446 million Air Academy FCU in Colorado Springs, Colo., his new employer said.

Sandra Lineberry, the Nebraska credit union's board chair, said in its announcement that “NUFCU will be in great hands with Keith, who brings outstanding expertise in the credit union industry, including a deep background in leveraging people and processes that will serve NUFCU well.”

Kauffield succeeds Bob Torell, who said he plans to retire after the credit union's annual meeting on April 17. Torell was been with NUFCU since 1982, when it had about $4 million in assets and 3,000 members.

The credit union now has $81 million in assets and 10,200 members and moved into a new facility in 2012.

“Because of Torell's leadership, our credit union is stronger today and can better serve our members,” Lineberry said in a separate statement posted by the university's news service.

“His knowledge was crucial in our expansion to the new building and is the reason we have a broad range of products available to members. We will miss Bob, but I know with the staff and volunteers we have at the credit union we will continue to build on the foundation created by him,” she said.
