Charles L. Ray Jr., chair of the board of directors of Redstone Federal Credit Union from 1983 until 2011 died recently.

Ray began serving the credit union as a volunteer in 1977 as a committee member. During his tenure on the board, Ray oversaw growth of the credit union and guided its transformation into the largest credit union in Alabama, and one of the 25 largest federal credit unions in the nation. 

will be especially remembered for his unwavering commitment to serving the underserved. He led the great expansion of Redstone's facilities as well as the development of many of the outstanding products and services that Redstone is now known for.
