More than $12,000 to go toward supplying backpacks filled with school supplies and much-needed clothing for underprivileged children was raised for the Indiana Members Foundation at a bowling fundraiser held by the $1.4 billion Indiana Members Credit Union.

The event at Expo Bowl in Indianapolis drew 400 bowlers and a visit from Freddy Fever, the mascot of the Indiana Fever of the Women's National Basketball Association.

"Due to the generosity from our employees, their friends and families, we were able to raise over $12,000 for our Bowl-A-Thon this year, which is awesome," said Mandy Emery, the credit union's assistant vice president for community relations.

"Our 2013 fundraising goal is to raise enough funds to provide 4,000 backpacks, filled with supplies, and 500 school uniforms, belts and shoes to school children in the Indianapolis area, and we are well on our way to hitting that goal," Emery said.
