Piazza is the new president/CEO of the $98 million Atlantic Financial FCU, the Hunt Valley, Md., credit union where he was vice president of finance in January when he and his wife, Jess, celebrated the birth of their first child.

Piazza was selected by a search committee that considered internal and external candidates before his promotion was approved by the credit union's board.
"When I hired Matt to head the finance department, I saw the opportunity for him to be our future president and CEO. I also recommended him to the Board of Directors as a candidate," Webb said in Monday's announcement.
Piazza joined AFFCU in 2011 and since then has overseen financial reporting and investment management and the accounting processes involved in two mergers.
"We are confident that Matt will provide the leadership that will be needed for AFFCU in the coming years. His clear direction is in alignment with AFFCU's strategic plan and we look forward to his energy and enthusiasm as he takes on this role to continue to best serve our membership," said AFFCU's Board Chairman Michael Spencer.
Previously, Piazza was an assurance manager at Clifton Gunderson LLP, now CliftonLarsonAllen LLP, where he audited credit unions."
He is a CPA and graduate of Salisbury University and a new board member of the Financial Managers Society – Maryland Chapter.
