The $117 million EECU – A Community Credit Union will be known as Michigan Community Credit Union as of April 1.

The 16,800-member Jackson, Mich., institution said it was been granted permission for the name change from the NCUA and the state's Office of Financial and Insurance Services.

EECU was founded in 1936 to serve local educators and now has a community charter to serve people who live, work, worship or attend school in 12 southern Michigan counties through its four branches, four in-school credit unions and more than 100 Financial Education school partnerships.
